This website is managed by the American Diabetes Association, and gives an immense amount of information on diabetes. The purpose of the website is to inform the reader about diabetes, juvenile, adult and gestational.  There is information about the basics of diabetes, living with diabetes, diabetic diets, diabetic exercise and fitness routines, new diabetic research, and even diabetic community resources. This site is a useful resource for not only information about diabetes but for someone who may have been recently diagnosed; this being the reason this website is recommend for diabetic information and aid.

This website is managed by encyclopedia britannica online.  The purpose of this website is to inform. The encyclopedia britannica is a great resource for information and definitions.  The actually wedsite of encyclopedia britannica is a huge website, but narrowing down your selection to a specific disease allows the website to be very useful.  The website gives the definitions for every type of diabetes, as well as gives definitions for terms used in the description of diabetes.  This allows the reader to better undestand the information that he or she is reading.  Thus making the information read more useful; this is an important factor in why this website is a recommended  source of information.

This website is managed by WebMD online.  WebMd is a commonly used website for information, and that is the purpose of the website, to inform.  It allows one to look up facts, statistics, symptoms, and resources on diabetes.  This website has a discussion forum that allows people to ask questions and receive answers about their health, as well as even talk about their experiences with living a diabetic life style.  This website is recommended because it is a good resource for someone who doesn’t quite understand what diabetes is and would like information and other resources to learn from.

This website is managed by Junior Diabetes Research Foundation International.  The purpose of this website is to inform.  This is a great website for diabetes research information.  This website is dedicated to finding the cure for diabetes.  There is a great amount of research information available on diabetes.  There is also a great amount of information about living with diabetes, for all ages.  There are articles, diabetes drug trial information, books, blogs,  videos, as well as many other sources of information on this website.  This website is an excellent resource because of their immense information available.

Medline Plus is a resource of the U.S. National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health.  The purpose of this website is to inform the reader about anything to do with diabetes.  This website gives a great amount of information about anything to do with diabetes.  Information on causes, symptoms, definitions, life style changes, exams, secondary disease complications, prevention etc.  This is website is recommended for the information given as well as the resources available.

This article examines the preventative measures being taken for diabetes, mainly manipulation of environmental exposures that are considered to be triggers for those who develop type 1 diabetes.  This article is aimed at presenting promising intervention results and mechanisms  from studies on diabetes.  This article is recommended because it gives information about preventative measures for those who are at a high risk for developing diabetes.  Also, it gives information about preventative measures being taken by not only the individual, but by the community as a whole. This article discusses Diabetes as serious chronic disease.  Diabetes is not a disease that targets only a certain race, ethnicity, or gender.  Though having different ethnic backgrounds can be a risk factor.  This article is recommended because it gives an insight on how families outside of the U.S. or that have immigrant status cope with their children having diabetes.  It is useful for information on living with diabetes and the results of studies conducted throughout the article.  The author Lene Povlsen is a member of The Nordic School of Public Health, Göteborg, Sweden, and Department of Pediatrics, Glostrup University Hospital, Denmark.

In this article, American Journal of Public Health has conducted studies to see if local area health departments are conducting obesity prevention and diabetes screening programs.  In the article the results and statistics are amazing.  The article found that having more programs such as before stated, better equipped individuals to be aware of their risks, and to know how to prevent Diabetes. The article is recommended because of the aspects on prevention and statistical information. The authors Zhang, Gregg, Mukhtar, Rivera, Barker and Albright are all from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.  Haubin Lous is from Mount Olive College.

The Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, gives a wonderful example of how the rise of diabetes is occurring. The article tells that the abundance of nursing home patients with Diabetes has increased significantly from 1995-20045; this caused by the targeted group for nursing home patients and the increase of diabetes in the population. This article from BMC Health Services Research, is a study about individuals living with diabetes in Cameroon.  Their compliance with the medication and the lifestyle change that must take place. The results from the study showed that the ethnography revealed a lack of understanding and knowledge about diabetes. This article is recommended because it puts into perspective that diabetes is a worldwide epidemic and not just secluded to the United States of America. The authors Awah and Unwin are from Institute of Health and Society, Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK.  Awah is also a member of the Health of Populations in Transition (HoPiT) Research Group, Yaounde, Cameroon. Peter Phillmore is a professor from the School of Geography, Politics and Sociology, University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK.

This book by Mogensen is explains about medication for diabetes.  The book gives information about the types of medicines available for the different types of diabetes.  The book also addresses the unavailability of certain medications for people with diabetes.  The book is recommended because it gives information about how to live with diabetes, through sufficiently taking the correct medication.  The book also gives the reader the options on medication type preferred, human, bovine, synthetic insulin, as an example.  The author Carl Mogensen is a Professor of Internal Medicine at  Aarhus University Hospital, Aarhus, Denmark, his research interests are Diabetic Nephropathy and Hypertension.

This book is a great book for information.  This book breaks down everything one would want to know about diabetes, from the cardiovascular effects of diabetes to foot ulcers.  It also gives information on diabetes medical trials and drug therapy information.  This book is recommended because it covers everything one may need or want to know about diabetes.   The author  James H. O'Keefe Jr., MD is a Professor of Medicine at The University of Missouri in Kansas City.  Also he works at Mid-America Heart Institute, St. Lukes Hospital. The author David S.H. Bell, MD, FACP,  is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at The University of Birmingham School of Medicine, Birmingham, Alabama.  The author PhD, is a  Assistant Professor in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, Texas.

The book is an updated account of how to manage and live with diabetes. IT is a guide on how to lead a successful diabetic diet and lifestyle.  This book is recommended because it is a guide for one to follow in order to be successful with their diabetic journey. The authors Toohey and Beirmann are both directors of Prana Publications, and have coauthored 8 other books regarding diabetes.  Virginia Valentine is a clinical nurse specialist and award winning diabetics educator.  She is also the founder of the Diabetics Network.
